- Crisis assignment to Guam, however rates are not in crisis range. However with a great location, I took the assignment for the location and the mission of helping Guam. Our housing was at a hotel that was remodeling and too noisy for night shift staff and overall was not acceptable to most of the group. Several had complaints of ants, broken or not functioning items in their rooms, and cleaning. NuWest offered us a revised contract to provide a housing allowance for us to get our own housing. They have not paid us correctly for our hours and are disputing the payrate for hours above 40. In the contract an OT rate is published. However for our hours above 40 they want to pay an "extended hours" rate which is also in the contract. This "extended rate" is vague and the contract does not state it replaces the overtime rate. So after we were paid for OT at the OT rate, the company now says they over paid us and we should have received the lower extended rate. NuWest now wants us to sign a third contract revision for the same job which we began 3 weeks ago with new rates throughout the contract.
Most of the changes reduce our pay for the complete contract. It is going to be interesting how this ends up in December, but our whole group that came here is very dissatisfied with the experience of working with NuWest on this contract. 10/11/2020
